To all you down rigger experts…… I am very new to them. What do you believe is the best release for fishing the north shore of Superior?

I have been looking at the Chamberlain releases and they look absolutely like the Cats Meow! I have used the Walker torpedo type for in land lake Rainbows.

    Any thoughts?

We have real good luck with Blacks releases.

The chamberlains function like a blacks in a way, but they are a whole lot better. After I tried them, I could not believe how awesome they were. You can set them for anything from heavy horizontal tension for trolling steelhead and salmon to extremely light for saugers…..all the while having enough vertical tension to allow you to crank the rod down taught. They are simply levels above the rest IMO.

    Thanks guys!

After reading all the reviews on a Great Lakes forum I am going to order up some Chamberlains. The consensus was that the Chamberlains are the CATS Meow!

I can give two thumb’s up for the Chamberlain’s as well. I’ve been using them for about 4 years and really like them.
