My coworker has this sailboat that is in rough conduction. She was fixing it up until the mast broke and she can’t find another one. She said she is done with it and wants to find it a new home. Does anyone want it or is there a dump or boat graveyard she can bring it to? It floats. I can take more pictures if needed. Located in Lakeville at the moment.

June 14, 2023 at 8:39 am #2208116Hey EPG could use a sailboat that way he could get hammered at the bar and let her float him back to the cabin.
June 14, 2023 at 9:38 am #2208126little fiberglass work and some paint with a couple of extras is all it needs.

June 15, 2023 at 11:33 am #2208339This needs to be gone at the end of next week. Where can she take it if no one wants it?
June 15, 2023 at 11:52 am #2208341Our county landfill will take them if fluids and batteries are removed and it can be verified by them. The one at the top of this list says it accepts boat hulls if nobody wants it.
https://www.scottcountymn.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1099/Other-Materials-Disposal-List-PDFI heard it’s bad luck to change a boat’s name but does that apply if the name is misspelled?

Good plan!
but I can’t afford it, they’re asking too much.June 15, 2023 at 12:33 pm #2208346I’ve seen people “recycling” fiberglass boats at the Hubbard County dump which is just south of Park Rapids. You can bring just about anything there for “free” (aka county funded). It’s just too bad it’s 3.5 hours away!

John he would just burn it.
Maybe, but it would be fun to watch.
June 29, 2023 at 7:36 pm #2211259Still got this? I’m sending the link to a buddy of mine who may very well be interested
June 29, 2023 at 7:45 pm #2211261Disregard, apparently the mast is a deal breaker on this one. “On a well made boat maybe not, but for a venture 22 a new mast would cost more than the boat is worth”. And now I know a little bit more about sailboats.
June 30, 2023 at 7:37 am #2211319I guess she tried to find a mast and there was none to be found for this boat.

Someone’s kid could have a great club house. Her kid, or her neices and nephews. Or better yet give it to your apprentices and let them learn real life ratchet strapping
June 30, 2023 at 7:55 am #2211324let them learn real life ratchet strapping
That was so funny watching 4 very bright 20-21 year old electrical engineers trying to figure out how to use a ratchet strap, then trying to look it up on YouTube, and was still confused. I guess some skills you just have to learn in the field.
June 30, 2023 at 9:57 am #2211362A good friend and mentor of mine is always on the lookout for a project sailboat, but he schooled me on this one. Honestly, digging a hole and burying it up to the water line would make a hella cool playhouse for kids. Hope someone finds a use for it!
THPosts: 446June 30, 2023 at 10:58 am #2211386I gotta ask. Why is a new mast so expensive? How much are we talking for a new mast?
