Black Hills fishing

We are headed to the Black hills in mid-June 2019 for a family vacation.
I am trying to slip in a day of fishing with my son, while the girls shop.

We are not fly fishermen, and will not have a boat.

One of the options might be a full day 14 ft fishing boat rental at Pactola Pines Marina on Pactola Lake.

We don’t have down-riggers for trout, so northern pike look like the ticket.

Anyone fish this lake, or have better ideas for 6-8 hours of fishing near the black hills?

Id go into custer state park and fish the lakes–spinning rods will be just fine. Sylvan lake is solid–I think stockade is more of a bass/pike spot.

Worst case scenario-its a gorgeous park

If ya head to Custer SP, bring some chow for the mules.
