Any guesses on size/weight of this one? 55gal drum.
Looking at the thickness of the neck and the size compared to the barrel of the length from the top of the back to the bottom of the “beer belly”, I’d say decent bear and not a yearling.
Set your clock and date, BTW, you’ll want to know times going forward.
Grouse
Ya Grouse I know. I set three cams out and set times on 2 of the 3. O well its set now.
Well I may never find out what he weighs. Hit the bait hard in the first 4 days after baiting and never returned. Only sow and cubs now. Bummed out to say the least.
I hope but its been almost 2 weeks. Makes me second guess everything I did.
Maybe change your type of bait 180 degrees. You could’ve put out something that just doesn’t sit right with him.
He’s back and brought a friend. Both showed up during shooting hrs on the 1st and the 2nd. But wind was wrong anyway for that bait those 2 days. Hunted it last night, nothing.
Well that bait went cold. But another good bear showed on a different bait. Put a arrow in him tonight on my first sit. Any guesses on weight before i reveal?
Dressed weight or live?
280 live. 220 field dressed
Very nice bear, congrats.
Weighed him on the scale at the feed mill. Scale read 300lbs. even dressed. But rounds the weight. So actual dressed weight is between 290-310lbs.
I thought I was light but he’s a leggy critter. How thick was the fat across his back and rump? 4″….5″
300 dressed is a dandy animal. Any guesstimates on a live weight? Again, congrats!
Thanks Tom. As for the fat maybe 1 1/2-2” in the thick spots. Live weight id guess 340ish
Congratulations on a fine trophy, and the culmination of a lot of effort. The smile on your face says it all.
Coincidentally I had a FB Memory pop up on my private profile today of me with my bear 7 years ago – good memories.
