Be safe…re-check your propane connection

While fishing in our shack last night with a buddy, we heard a very loud, very close explosion in the hub style tent that was about 15 feet from ours. The ice was cracking, our shack heaved up and down. We thought the ice was giving out from under us.

“After checking our shorts”, we then heard the guys next door sheepishly laughing, and when we looked outside our door to see what in the heck just happened, we saw that their tent was standing on its side, and the two guys hustling around outside it, still giggling.

End result was that they believed they had a propane leak that must have started to fill up the inside of the tent, and when it reached the level of the heater flame, Kablooey!

Fortunately, both guys appeared to be ok, but I bet their ears are still ringing yet tonight, and maybe missing some eyebrow hair.

A little soapy water on the connections will show any leaks, and be aware of the smell of bad eggs…It might prevent something more serious than what happened here.

Hopefully the explosion didn’t knock their beer over.

Yowza, you’d think after that detonation “these guys” would have reacted the opposite of laughing! I might speculate that they were “sharing” a cigarette rolled with something other than tobacco, when the gas met the weed and it wasn’t a happy marriage.
But if “the guys” were happy…
