Wondering how much snow is on the ice in the Bayport area thinking of going out this weekend any info would be helpfull thanks in advance.
wondering if anybody knows how much snow is on the ice in the Bayport area any info would be appreciated thanks.
Brandon, the sturgeon guys have all but hung it up for this year. (Sturgeon C&R season closes at midnight on March 1st.
There where photos in the last two days to pickups plowing snow..even though they didn’t have a plow. One fella was stuck twice and was assisted by another fisherman.
The other concern I would have right now is the blanket of snow insulating the ice. It’s a river with moving water.
It’s your choice but use all the normal ice fishing precautions if you decide to go.
Nothing South. One across to WI and on North towards the Power Plant.
Any current reports on the roads/travel conditions out of Bayport?
Hi Dave, there is a crap pile of snow on the ice out there. However there are a couple plowed roads. If your coming off the MN side there is still a chicken trail going across to WI, one heading north and was another that someone kindly plowed to the south. It goes down .5-.75 miles south. you can get out there anyways but if we get another 8 inches of snow I wouldn’t deal with it. You will spend half your time getting yourself or others unstuck. haha.. We had some of that Friday night out there.
Anyone know if it’s possible to get around out there with a wheeler off the plowed roads?
I would be pretty confident saying no! Unless you need some practice getting your machine un stuck.
You will make it 10-70 yards at a time and then just be digging out again. It would be nice for running out on the plowed roads though and getting over the bank so you are out of the way and can fish off the road a bit.
