FYI. A bighead carp was captured on Tuesday, September 16 at the mouth of the St. Croix River by a commercial angler under DNR contract. The fish was 901 mm long and weighed 21 lbs 5 oz. The fish was shipped intact to Duane Chapman at USGS in Missouri so gender could not be determined at the time. DNR invasive carp specialists will be gill netting the area of capture today. Additionally, DNR will also be gill netting the St. Croix River next week in conjunction with another project. Bighead carp individuals have been captured in this general area in the past so a press release will not be issued.

I’m going to have to start trolling that area in hopes of snagging one.

You have a better chance of snagging a bull shark.

Personally as an armchair biologist, I don’t see bighead carp as a threat. I might try some grass carp fishing down here. They are big.
