A while back I did a search on Ido. The cat fishing community as far back as 2001 were calling for a close winter season for flats.
This law won’t affect the cat fishermen as Dirk said many years ago. “Anyone that calls themselves a flathead fisherman doesn’t fish for them in the winter.”
It’s for the uniformed and the poachers.
Kudos to Jack Lauer, the MN Cat fishing Workshop Group and the MN DNR for making this happen!
BK – I agree with the closed season on flats, as well as the new sturgeon regs, but am a bit confused. Is this the proposed wording for new regs in 2015? If so, when would the rules go into effect?
Last I saw and I doubt it’s changed the date was March 15th.
