Lake Puckaway, wi. 7-9-10

Out on a morning guided trip on lake Puckaway wi. on the 9th of july. We started out trolling on the lake with number 7 flicker shads and number 7 shad raps. We were running 2 boards on both sides off the bow of the boat and then 1 lead core pole on each side back by the stearn and 2 long lines rods straight out the back of the boat . So we had 8 trolling rods out for the morning. We are only trolling in about 4 to 5 1/2 feet of water. This is summer time level for the lake .

We had only 9 feet behind the boards and on the lead core 25 feet of lead core seemed to be the ticket for the day with nice vegetation just off the bottom. There was quite a few floating weeds laying on the surface ,so in some of my favorite areas you were cleaning the baits off all the time. We got a few northerns and eyes and sheepheads for the day and then we went up in the river to do some jigging for walleyes.

We started drifting the river with 1/32once jigs with 6 pound test line. We tipped the baits with leeches and crawlers with the leeches being the best bait for the day. The outside egdes seem to be holding all the fish because of the under cut banks and the sunny day we had. We got 5 norhterns and 5 walleyes with the biggest 18 and 17 inchers. We had our share of smallies, sheepheads and a few cats as well. Overall a great day out on the water.
