Lake Petenwell WI. walleye report 5/29/10

Lake Petenwell is part of the Wisconsin river system located just north of another lake on the wisconsin river , which is Casle Rock lake. Both lakes are great lakes for walleyes and crappies. I hit the water at 7:30 am with my clients Devon and his son. and went to one of my favorite spots to do some trolling. Before we had the 3rd line counter rod out we had 2 fish in the boat allready, a nice walleye and a white bass. It took quite awhile to just get all 8 lines set out because the fish were biting fast. We were diffinetly found a hot bite for the morning. The kid was having a great time reeling most of the fish.

The baits we were using were number 7 shad raps and flicker shads and also the 2/5th once cleos spoons. The colors for the day did not seem to matter much today . The depth we were targeting with the best results was from 15 feet to 29 feet of water. We were following and criss- crossing the old river channels. We were using 4 rods with boards up front of the boat , 2 on each side and 8 foot 6 inch and 2 lead core rods back farther straight out the sides. We also long lined 2 spinning rods out the back of the boat. So we had 8 rods for trolling for the day.

The fish caught for the day were walleyes ranging from 13 inches up 16 1/2 for the biggest one, whitebass with some as big as 15 inches with a few smaller ones as well. We even got a nice catfish on the cleo and a 14 inch crappies on a shad rap. Great day fishing with you 2 today.
