I’ve never played around much with wacky rigging worms ( tend to just Texas rig ) What are everyone’s preferred hook choices? How do you Rig them ? ( Hook direct thru middle of worm, use a band or o-Rig ) From what I hear you can go thru ALOT of stick worms in a day if you hook direct thru the worm. I’m thinking this will be the year to give them more of a try and see what all the fuss is about.

I started using them a bunch last year, and what worked best for me is the VMC wacky worm hook. I hooked them in the middle to just slightly to one end (depending upon how you want them to fall), I used a 1/2″ piece of black heat shrink tubing that is 3/8″ID I believe and ran my hook through the heat shrink and the worm. One stick bait would usually last me 10-15 bass or more, give it a try, I haven’t noticed any fish shying away from the heat shrink, I think it dose the opposite and gives them more of a focal point in the center of the stick bait.

Forgot to mention that I ran my hook perpendicular to the stick bait. And run the hook through both sides of the heat shrink and the stick bait, I usually make up a bunch of pieces of the heat shrink before the season starts.

I have used the o rings they are ok but did not notice a huge difference in saving worms. For hooks I use a EWG 2 or 3 works great for me. I keep record of all the fish I get in 2 seasons of fishing bass I had caught 535 bass on wacky rigs are worms spendy? To a degree yes but for me I would rather be catching fish I love the brand Yum dingers they are usually the cheapest. In another post I wrote I found it seems the worms only last a year roughly especially in the boat I keep them out of the heat but don’t stock up on to many I like to experiment with colors watermelon has been the best hands down. Good Luck hope it helps My wife and I on one trip went through 7 bags in 1 day she still talks about that day priceless. I know the pro’s think that’s probably nothing but hey it works for me and it’s great for kids! I will put a bobber above a wacky worm about 3-5 feet let them cast out and wiggle it some deadly technique.

Strike King Zero is a good worm for durability, just hook it through the middle.

I use the rings. I have used Strike King, Yum, GY worms and they all have a hard time standing up to wacky rigging. The rings have helped save a few. I also use the VMC wacky rig hooks. However I think Neko rigging is going to replace wacky rigging for me this year.

I use Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Hooks with o-rings. I also use the same hooks with large minnows.

Neko rigging. Looks very interesting. Thanks for the new tip!

Yep. Just adds a nail weight to one end and it gives it a very interesting fall and also keeps one end of the worm on the bottom with the other left to have whatever action you want to put on it.

The pros have been crushing with it. I’m hoping I can figure it out so my finesse game gets a little better.

I use the VMC Wacky hook in size 1 or 1/0. I always use the o ring. I find it helps a lot with durability. IMO Yamamoto senkos are by far the best for fish catching, but they are the most expensive and least durable. I prefer green pumpkin.

GYs are definetly the best-if you rig texas style sometimes Bass Pro Shops brand are good and cheaper. Sometimes bait or tackle stores have someone who will hand pour some that are very good. What store? Hmmm the one store had them but were sold out last time I checked in the size and color that I wanted-so not tellin’!

So Cabelas eh? Oh wait, they’re just out of all the name brand plastics…..nevermind.

Cabelas is not a ‘bait’ store, IMO
