I’m building a rustic table to match the couch I built for “The Fort”

I’m not a cabinet maker or wood worker…..no dovetails or biscuit joints for this guy mrgreen Just some timbers, glue and screws

I started it last night and should have it done tonight or Sunday.

Here’s a couple pics of the process so far. For the top I’m going to use reclaimed pallets, just like the wainscoting and the door

Man you guys do nice work. I’m in the category of making scrap wood.:???: At least with a chunk of metal I can weld the short pieces back together and start over. whistling

LOL, If I screw up I just end up with more firewood. doah
It’s nice to know if you have more firewood on the first cut and not the last.

    Ha

My stuff is child’s play compared to what some guys can do. Those doors EPG put together are amazing. I don’t have the tools or talent to make something like that lol

    Nice work guys.
One would be surprised what they can make from scrap. This is from shipping pallets. My mom loves her bench with the wheel. She can easily move it around by herself.

I hear ya, all our campfires are pine from trees in the yard. The treated timbers would have been made into blocking and wheel chocks before ever getting burned waytogo

I appreciate the concern and it’s a great point to bring up about treated wood

Probably not considered rustic but recently made from leftover 2x4s, 2x6s, and 1x10s.

Working up plans for a baker’s table with possum belly flour bins, recessed removable pastry board and an overhead hutch and shelves for storing spices, equipment, etc. Trying to decide on the top for the table – wood, hard surface or sheet metal. Oiled wood is top of mind now.

What joinery method did you use?

Just standard glue, screws, and various nailguns.

Just thinking out loud here, oiled wood needs to be a very very dense wood due to the porousness of it. Think pathogens from the residue left in the wood pores.

Agreed. It would have to be something akin to a butcher’s block. I am trying to decide if it would be patterned or single wood. In either case, hard maple would be one component. If patterned I would also use walnut.
