Looking at picking up the new Elite 7 Broadband for a bow mount locator. My question is, what is the compatibility between this unit and my current minnkota powerdrive v1 with us1? I current have an old lowrance x52 up front which does work with the motor. Thanks for the help. Specs say “lowrance blue connector” but not sure what that exactly is?

I believe you will need a blue color on one end and a black plastic one on the other end for your trolling motor

US2 is the metal connector on one end

You might have a hard time finding any thing for the US1

I would try eBay or hope someone else here might know

I think the Blue or Gray color end will work

I will have to run to storage and see what color the current one is. Thanks for the help. Maybe this will be leverage into persuading the wife for a v2.

    What untit are you replacing?
The US1 (Universal sonar) should just need the addaptor to go to Lowrances sonar. It will be a piece going from the metal connector coming from trolling motor to a blue connector for the Lowrance sonar hook-up.

I would have to beleive anyone like Thorne bros, Cabelas, fish-lectronics would have this in stock.
Below is the one from Cabelas that will work.

I’ll do some checking to see if your current US1 cable you use with the x-52 will work with an Elite7x Broadband. This is a brand new unit for 2013 with the new Hybrid Dual Imaging tranducer and Minn Kota has not updated their Compatibility chart for 2013 yet. At least not that I have seen.

Keep in mind that The HDI feature of this unit will not work through the trolling motor transducer anyway. You will only be able to use the traditional sonar features of the unit with a Universal Sonar. The Down Imaging features require the HDI transducer. You can always skip using the Universal Transducer and just mount the skimmer HDI transducer on the trolling motor with Minn Kota MKR-15 Transducer Mounting Kit. (I attached a picture)

    I hope this helps.

Thanks Ben for watching this thread

Thats right!! US1 or US2 will not work with all the features of the NEW 7X

and a guy could go back to having a cable run down the shaft

I have had a few guys order this unit without a tranducer with the intension of using the traditional sonar only. The benefits of the larger screen seem to be a huge selling point of this unit. They are definately priced right. I’ve also had guys that are moving the unit back and forth from the bow to the helm of the boat. They order the US2 cable and an extra power cable. With the HDI transducer mounted on the transom they get the full features when they move it to the front they use the US2 and only the traditional sonar and maps. This works really well for someone on a budget.

    Ben,
Thanks for the tips. I’m aware that it would only have conventional 2d sonar on the bow. I already have a humminbird unit with down imaging on the console and thought the gps/sonar split screen would be a big step up for me while vertical jigging and dragging. I’ve been a humminbird guy all the way but the screen size and price has me thinking differently!!! Thining I need to find a buyer for the 597ci HD DI bird I bought 2 years ago and buy 2 elite 7’s.
