serious marcum problems

    well back in november I bought a “new in the box” showdown 5.6 dualbeam. today was my first trip out and immediately I could tell somethings wrong. on MAX sensitivity(25), no, lemt me repeat, no, jigs of any sie show up once they get past 2 feet below the transducer. shrimpos, ratsos, diamond jigs, the cheapo jigs you get for a buck a piece, nothing worked. Im assuming the transducer for it is complete garbage, but if ths is normal for first time use a fast fix will be greatly appreciated. results were the same no matter what depth, zoom, noise, etc I tried. depth I was fishing was only 7 feet as well, neither cone degree had effect either. all ideas or solutions will be greatly appreciated.

    Battery at 100% charge, clean bottom of ducer, was it hanging straight down below the ice?

    Were you in simulation mode?

    Sorry I shouldn’t make light of someone else’s misery. If you went through all the settings, looks like you need to talk to Marcum.

    Call Marcum customer service 1-888-778-1208 and they will fix you up

    You’ll get further quicker by giving Marcum a call. They will ask you the usual questions, and most likely either send you a new unit, ‘ducer, or whatever they believe is wrong.

    definately not simulation mode, I got to see that before I bought the unit so I know it wasnt in that mode. I even tried zooming tothe bottom 25% and nothing still showed up directly on bottom. I guess its time to make that dreaded call.

    I didn’t think so, but you never know. You know how us guys are with a new toy. Forget the manual and run with it!

    Don’t dread it too much. You’ll get the problem solved.

    no, I wasnt near the river outlet of the lake, was on the opposit end in 5-8 feet of water 20 feet offshore.

    Just a thought. Reading your bait for a couple feet and reading bottom seems strange you lose your bait. Good luck getting it cleared up.
