With the price of guides in Florida nowadays, I have been thinking about taking my midwestern Lowe boat and 60hp Mercury down to Florida sometime for some inshore fishing. My question is: Does anyone know if my outboard would be alright running in saltwater? Are other outboards more specialized for saltwater? Just wondering because I don’t want any unforeseen problems.

You asked,,,,”Does anyone know if my outboard would be alright running in saltwater? (It will be fine.)
Are other outboards more specialized for saltwater? (Yes, they are designed to withstand the salt with more stainless and plastics)
Just wondering because I don’t want any unforeseen problems.
(Just make sure you flush the motor as soon as you are done, and wash the boat and trailer with Dawn soap!)
“Dawn” hates salt!!! I use it after every charter on the rod and reels too.
O-Yeah,,one more important thing. If you have a stainless prop on your motor now,,,take it off before you run it down there and use a aluminum prop,,,you’ll be glad you did!
