I made a list today of all the different kinds of fish I caught in the river this year and I must say I was pretty impressed. A total of 14 different “varieties”. It is great having such a wonderful fishery so close to home. Here is my list:
    Walleye
    Sauger
    Flathead catfish
    Channel catfish
    Smallmouth bass
    Largemouth bass
    White Bass
    Northern Pike
    Crappie
    Bluegill
    Carp
    Sheepshead/Drum
    Mooneye
    Longnose gar

Plus I still hope to make it out one more time this weekend so maybe I can add to the list.

Pretty suprising you didn’t run into a sturgeon. Still plenty of time left. I don’t fish for them but still manage to get 3 or 4 a year on accident.

The variety is pretty awesome. My brother-in-law and I caught 11 species in one day last year.
