The boy got his second ever tom turkey Saturday morning. Actually passed his chance on 3 jakes just after shooting time. Then this one came in with 4-5 hens from the opposite direction without making a sound, snuck in on us. Had to do some blind dancing but was able to get his grandpas 870 20gauge out the side window and make the shot at 26yds. 22.2lbs with a 9.5” beard. Pretty excited boy. He turns 12 tomorrow and I always make him go ask the neighbors for permission by himself. Ill carry his gun back but the rule is he’s got to carry the bird.

Those are my 2 Favorite poses with a turkey. Always get a picture with the bird, the gun, and the decoys in it. Then the classic picture of the over the shoulder bird carry from behind. Both Classics. Tell the young man congrats. and congrats to you as well for getting him out enjoying the great outdoors.
