I have a X52 unit up front now. Its not color
I would like to replace it with a color unit
    I do not need a GPS/Chartploter unit…just a fish finder
    Any suggestions ?
    Something simple
    Thanks,
    Mike

    No replies?

What unit do you have on the console?

If you have an HDS gen 2 or touch I’d definetly get another.

What do you have on the boat besides the X52?

    Thanks,
I have an older Lowrance 332c combo….and like it. Don’t need anything fancy
I was looking at the Lowrance Elite 5x or
I’m not sure if a compact Elite 4 would work for me….might be a little small.
I don’t suppose the X52 transducer would work on the Elite 5X
I have it mounted on my bow mount trolling motor

For your budget I really don’t have any recommendations.

I have a HDS 8 gen 2 on my console and a HDS 7 on the bow. I’m glad I went with the 7 instead of the 5 but now I wish I had another 8 on the bow.

I have an HDS 7 and 8. Not worth the savings for the 7. Look at the actual screen sizes and the resolution is night and day, the 7 is an “economy” version that’s still expensive. If I could do it again I would get x2 of the HDS 8’s.

    X2 on getting two 8’s instead of an 8 & a 7!

Mike, you can’t go wrong with the Lowrance Elite 5 and no you can not reuse your existing transducer as the cable connectors are not the same. Cabela’s has this unit for under $200 right now and probably cheaper yet once their black Friday ad comes out. Here’s the link to the Elite 5 at Cabela’s http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/Marine-Electronics/Sonars-SonarGPS-Combos%7C/pc/104794380/c/104707080/sc/104588280/Lowrancereg-Elite-5X-HDI-Sonar/1660771.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fsonars-sonar-gps-combos%2F_%2FN-1100517%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104588280%3FWTz_l%3DUnknown%253Bcat104707080&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104707080%3Bcat104588280#BVRRWidgetID

I’d go with a color lowrance 5 ” screen. I think they have one that is a sounder only for a reasonable price.

Elite 5 will be a great sonar unit for you over what you are using now.
