I have a powerdrive unit that I broke the skeg off, bent motor shaft and so on. Got all the parts, but anyone ever take the motor housing off that shaft? Didn’t see that problem coming, but from what very little I have found on line about it, there is some type of locktite on it. Last time I asked the local service center for help fixing it they said drop it off, and in six weeks we will have an estimate… so I fully intend to do this on my own if possible. One old thread said a little heat applied to the housing helped break it loose… but with the wiring, and transducer still in it, I’d like to think there is a better way.

A heat gun Should do it, just need to be hot enough to loosen the locktite. Apply some pressure when heating and it will break loose quickly.

OK, I can check into borrowing a heat gun, if that is all it takes…. have you done it that way successfully?
