Lake Menomin WI. Walleye Report

The fall weather that we wait for all year is here! It was a perfect morning to be on the water. Pete and I had a few hours free this morning. we threw a couple of jig poles and the dogs in the boat and headed out. The eye bite has been on the edge of turning on full force. Well its on! If we would have fished all day, we would have had one of those 50 to 100 fish totals.

Key areas to hit right now are shelfs with depths 0f 6 to 11 ft and drop off quick into deeper water. The key is to work the area over slowly. Going vertical will put fish in the boat as they are slamming the bait right now. Pitching and dragging jigs also is working. Keep switching up and do all three. hair jigs, or fireballs tipped with minnows have been our best baits. Orange, parrot and black are the hot colors right now.

The crappie bite has been strong all fall. The good news is that the crappie bite just seems to get stronger. The great news is, the crappies are in the same area as the walleyes. Some of the best fishing of the year is happening right now. get out and enjoy some time on the water.
