Mississippi Pool 4 June Report

Well this Report will have a little history from the month of June and bring you up to date. Mike is back for the summer. He arrived June 1st. Been busy seeking walleye’s, work, and those pesky Wildlife and Fish Refuge Meetings.

This first photo is of Mike. This is his first walleye of the 2005 season from under the bridge in Wabasha it was a twenty incher. Caught on a Bucktail of course. What do you think of the hair???

This next fish is his first fish while in a boat. this was a 25 incher. Also caught on a bucktail. Mike has become a very good hair fisherman. This 14 year old can really fish those jigs. Hey and what do you think of that hair???

Uncle Greg thinks a hair cut is in order. I have to look around and find some clippers.

Mike has sharpened his skills as a jig fisherman. He is always picking on those sheephead. This next photo is of him with another five pound plus Sheepie.

This fish was also caught on a bucktail.

This will be the last photo with the long hair.

Hey all you young ladies out there do you really think that long hair looks good???

All the up coming photos will appear hairless cause I just found my clippers.

This next photo is from June 9 2005.

Mike and I shared the boat with Jerie Eckholdt for a great day on the water.

The presentation was jigs with crawlers.

We were dragging the sand with 1/16 oz jigs.

Also pitches some hair around.

This was a great day on the water.

Look Ma no hair!!

  1. Here is a 20 inch fish that we trolled up along the rocks in about 12 feet of water using a number 7 shadrap.
Does this guy look good or what.
That is a real sharp hair cut.

  2. This is from June 10
    Two Top Guns.
    Mike Anderson and Melissa Hetrick.
We were using nitecrawlers and jigs on the sand.
Most of the bites were very finicky.
But we managed to hook a few.

  3. With the water going up and down from mud to clear. Mayflys every where..I have found the walleyes the last couple days to be tough to locate numbers.
So Mike and i made a trip to Redwing on June 26 and here is one he found.
Say Mike nice hair who is your barber??

  4. The bite for eyes has been tough the last couple days.
So you can always count on the white bass.
Here are a few we kept to pickle.

  5. Well many of you know John Stears and he has been tutoring Mike on bass fishing..the rest of these photos are of the bass we have taken this past weekend.
I have spinner baits, Buzz baits, tubes , flukes, and all kinds of weird stuff in my walleye boat.
Here is a pair to draw too.

  6. This is the last picture I have to post.
This is a crooked small mouth bass.
The only reason I’m posting or even took a photo is because we caught this fish twice within an hour.
Man no wonder when the walleyes get tough to find I go fish bass…

  7. Thanks for the report and pics Bud. And, yes, Thanks Mike for letting Uncle Greg catch a ”small” fish and for holding some of ”your much bigger fish” for a fish pic or two. [couldn’t resist Bud]
    Thanks, Bill

  8. Nice looking fish. Good looking hair cut also. What have you guys been useing for hair jigs? During the high water on pool 2 a white headed with white and red hair has been a favorite of mine. The hair on these runs about 1″ past the hook. Since this spring is my first attempt at pitching hair Im interisted to hear what colors and styles others are haveing luck on.

  9. “One more of those grass carp”
“I have spinner baits, Buzz baits, tubes , flukes, and all kinds of weird stuff in my walleye boat.”
The next thing you know there will be a Ranger in the garage!
Great report, nice pictures. Mike I might need your help this week.

    John

  10. Hey Mike,
My always best fall back on confidence bucky is a black on black.
But here is a photo of the three we have been using the last month.
    Good luck and have fun.

  11. Hey John,
I’ll have to tell Mike about the help, he is out fishing again…
He just came home to grab his bass stuff and away he went peddles flying.
I think he is bass addicted or something.
I really kinda feel for him.
He will have some fish stories when he comes home.
Here is a smallie he caught up the Rush when we were looking for Big Northerns. Those dang Bass seem to follow that kid everywhere.
