Door County Sturgeon Bay

Well with the spawn being complete in many locations around the Bay of Green Bay fish are in the process of spawning along with some fish already being done spawning around the waters of Door County. Fish that have already completed the spawn are moving into locations they typically move into after spawning and begin to feed up.

We have been fishing a couple of areas that have had more and more fish showing up daily. Targeted depths of water that we have been fishing have been from 17 to 23 FOW and we have been casting and jigging for our fish one of our best baits have been the Rapala Rippin Rap in colors of gold and Firetiger.

The fishing was a little slow to start out this morning but as the sun got higher and the winds picked up a little and the water temps rose slightly the fish became more active. I like to move around until we find active fish and then we will work that area thoroughly to maximize the amount of bites we can get.

Most of the fish we caught today were between 7 and 10 lbs with an exception of a few fish that were smaller between 4 and 5 lbs. While there is still time to target some pre spawn Walleyes in the Door County area time is running short but not to worry there will be plenty of very large post spawn fish to be had through out the entire season.
