Pool 4 Fall Sauger Bite

We had some good fishing this weekend out of Everts Resort! What a change in what seemed like over night! I’m sure the little rain we had didn’t hurt anything either.

The flow was 3000cfs on Friday, then jumped to just above 6000cfs on Saturday and Sunday when most of the fishermen were out chasing that wiley waskel the sauger.

Jason Pitts and crew were pitching hair to the rocks and came in with these two nice eye’s. They went down stream of Everts for those and a few eater size fish too.

Here’s our catch of the day from Sunday.

These and a lot more released fish came from 16 fow, vertical jigging a 1/4 oz jig and a minnow. It wasn’t really jigging. Drop the jig and minnow down to the bottom, then lift up about 2-3 inches and hold.

While your on hold, your call is answered! Thwack! Fish ON!

I was out on Saturday for a short while. The picture posted here is one of a limit of 6 that came from pitching to the rock shore line near the dam.

BK told me to take an 1/8 oz jig head, a package of the new BfishN Tackle Mini Pulsar a pitch to the rocks. Since the current is almost non existent, the jig won’t sweep like he likes it to so he suggested working the bait back to the boat with a little more lifting and dropping then most people would normally do. Keep the line tight on the drop because that’s when the little tap comes. When it does, pull back and stop the horses!

We’ve had a number of calls asking about the cat bite. BK took out Ido Member Flathead Fever and his friend Shawn on Sunday afternoon to chase the forktails.

He said he lost a lot of bait up near the dam and decided to head down stream a little. Sounds like Jesse and Shawn had a good time playing tug o war with the channel cats!

Looking back at the summer, man was it hot! Thank you all that have patronized Everts Resort since Kari and I have taken over last spring! We’re looking forward to meeting more of you folks this fall!

Please bare with us as we are trying our best to remember everyone’s names. Seems like our son, little Jimmy remembers names better then we do at times.

We don’t have anyone hear to point out the best parking spots for you so all we ask is to please park as close as comfortable to your neighbor and think about the next person.

The first ramp coming down the hill will support any kind of boat/rig we can throw at it. The two ramps just above the fish cleaning house are in very good condition even though your trailer will go gently off the cement ramp into the gravel.

The top two rams are closed off with red cones from the shallow water. Feel free to use those to park your rigs on.

With that, we hope to see many of you with smiles and limits this weekend!

  1. If you listen real close you can hear the official start to the fall walleye / sauger bite on Pool 4. Thanks for the report, Steve. I think it safe to say that you can expect a lot more traffic and a little less sleep in the coming weeks.

  2. Good to see a report from Evert’s Steve Sounds like the Fall bite is shaping up nicely. You should be seeing the boy and me in the near future. I have a hankering to get a bunch of those new mini pulse-rs and I hear you have them in stock!!!!

I heard the bite was going to stop on Saturday evening.

You’ll have to focus on cooking Tom.

Lasagna, Porketta/Red Potatoes, Spaghetti w Venison Italian Sausage… How does that sound BK?
