They make Rare Breed in both bourbon and rye, both good, I also like the Russell’s bourbon and rye. The Wild Turkey 101 rye is my go to on the shelf rye. Knob Creek bourbon and rye are good ones that are easy to find. Favorite rye has to be Sagamore, pick a version, it’ll be good.

Hanks Bait and Tackle in Waterloo should be able to help as well.

Never considered Hank’s. I’ll check him out too. I usually run up to his shop a couple times a year to get reloaded with provisions.

Nothing super close, I’d have to ship it either way, so figured I’d inquire with others who may have been provided good service. Sometimes a good referral is worth an extra few bucks shipping.

I said it shouldn’t be swept under the rug. I will bet you that the problem within the Catholic Church is more magnified then the scouts or other groups, due to the narrative from secular media. They love to push anti Catholic, anti Christian narratives, however you don’t hear much about issues within the Mormon church. The IRS was classifying Catholics as domestic terrorists. Where do child molesters go? Hell for their sins.

It’s hard to stand behind a religion or brach of religion that’s higher ups are a big group of child molesters, or hide the fact that they have so many child molestation issues, and do nothing. That’s the work of the devil

Humans are prone to sin, that is true. I wouldn’t say it’s a matter regarding faith. Any place where people have power over children will attract sinful people, look at the Boy Scouts, or teachers. Is the problem something that should be brushed under the rug, nope.

Likewise Catholic. We shall see. Hoping it’s not an American pope, although I didn’t think much of Pope Benedict either. Last good pope was John Paul II.

I wish Iowa let you use ATVs on public. I either get the option of quartering and packing, dragging, or getting a pack horse. Sucks that people abuse that privilege, I’m getting old and packing s#it out or dragging is getting exhausting. Regarding grouse, I always wanted to hunt them, heard a few drumming in the northeast portion of our state but never drew on one. Gotta buddy that hunts them in Wisconsin every year, gonna go with sometime.

Oh, I see what you find funny, I meant the file size. My iPhone pics are ginormous. I mean, the walleye and smallie were nice and all, but I don’t think they broke any rules rotflol

I noticed it last night on my post as well. Thought I violated some thread rule posting pictures of fish that were too big or something.

For my buddy’s bachelor party we launched outta Clayton and had a big camp out/bonfire/drunk fest on the sandbars. I passed out in the bushes on the island we were camped on and got the worst case of jiggere ever. Then we boated up to Praire du Chien to stop at Stark’s and get more provisions. Good time.

I throw BfishN precision heads, and I also found a supplier online, Bald Eagle Jigs, they’re outta Pennsylvania, and they make 1/16 and 3/32nd oz heads with #1 size hooks, up to 1/0, for bigger K Grubs and swim baits. The head i get from them is called the Little Gripper.

For what it’s worth, my opinion is that the Abu 6500 is significantly undersized for Rainy River Sturgeon. Will it work? Sure it will. Is it ideal for stopping hard running fish or steering them in the current? Not so much. Bump up to a 7000 or something with a higher drag rating. I prefer at least 30lbs of drag rating. I personally use the Piscifun Alijoz 400 with a M or MH MadKatz rod.
My leaders are always just the same 80lb PowerPro or Suffix that I use as mainline. Using Dacron or something heavier can help in protecting them when they roll in the line and also handling the line when unhooking.
For hooks, I’ve tried a lot and really prefer the 9/0 Trokar APC. Many years doing this, and I haven’t found anything better.

This^^^ I used to run the 6500 for Flathead, and found it a bit underpowered. I went with the 7000 reel and the difference is substantial. Run 80 pound Power Pro to a 60 pound mono leader, think it’s Big Game Trilene, but would have to check.

I wade fish the smaller interior rivers around eastern Iowa often. A lot of times you can’t hit the current seems when shore fishing so I wade out. Do it on the Wapsi often for walleyes and smallmouth.

If you don’t have any pets around, aside from the cats, put a bowl of Mt.Dew mixed with 50% anti freeze. It’ll take care of the unwanted guests.

I bow hunt but those arrows always cost 30 bucks. Shotgun shells didn’t always cost $10 a piece. And you are correct, the 12 gauge felt some cumbersome. When hunting in the woods the 28” barrel would always get caught in stuff. My 20 gauges is so light, I’m just gonna carry it by hand. I also have a red dot mounted on the vent rib with a Warren mount, which allows me to get my cheek right on the stock, unlike my 12 gauge, plus I can carry it around the center of the gun. I’m digging it. If I need to go TSS, I might, but if I can get my Longbeards to pattern fine at 30 yards, and perhaps 40, I’m sticking with them.

Vinci weighs 6.9 pounds by itself per Benelli’s website. Plus optic and turkey loads. Perhaps I guessed and didn’t weigh it out, but it’s a helluva lot heavier then my 20” barreled 20 gauge.

I only inquired because everybody on every forum are talking about TSS. I’m a good shot, I don’t use a 12 gauge because I can’t shoot. I use a 12 gauge because most people do who turkey hunt. I don’t think using a sub gauge for vanity is appropriate so I was just wondering if lead and 20 gauge do well on turkeys. The loads are substantially slower and pack a lot less load, so it got me wondering. Pheasant and rabbit are a lot smaller than turkey. I also used a 12 gauge deer hunting too, because that was what I used. I now use a 45/70, but I think using appropriate calibers and gauges for the game you pursue is important.

Usually I can smell the turkey’s breath when I pull the trigger, they’re so close. I used to run a Vinci with 3” #6 Longbeards, and they killed a pile of turkeys, a couple to 50 yards ranged, but those were in fields with decoys and I just don’t hunt that way anymore. I like calling to my tree and see their pretty smile before I knock their beak off. Spent too much time researching turkey chokes and went with the Carlson’s extend turkey, .575 constriction. We shall see how she does. I also got a box of Federal Grand Slams in 5 shot to test as well. If I need to go TSS, I might load them myself, I got all the powder and primers to do it, just need some 20 gauge empties and some shot. I have been looking and some of the #9 TSS loads leave a pretty amazing pattern at 50. But I don’t care. I don’t ever get 50 yard shots in the woods. Kinda like having a 60 yard pin on your bow and hunting in the woods, you’ll never use it. 20-30 yards is where they mostly get crumpled, and sometimes 10-20 feet.

Yup. It’s raining down here in Iowa today but I’m gonna pattern it this week. I got both Longbeard 5 and 6 shot I’m gonna pattern, see which one the gun likes.

    Stanley

    The rifle used
Vudoo 360 right bolt left port action.
40 moa rail and a 20 moa Spuhr scope mount.
25.5” x 1.25” straight shank 13 twist barrel with EC tuner.
Vortex Gen III 6-36×56 Mil scope with base setup allows 31.5 mils of dial up and another 30 mils of holdover – good for 700 yards.
Matrix Pro II chassis with picatinny bridge ahead of scope.
Multi purpose Charlie MK8 used after 700 yards or when needed in regards to setup.

Using 22LR Lapua Midas Plus ammo

    JH

That sounds like it should work. You gonna use standard velocity ammo to avoid bullet tumbling when going subsonic?
