I mentioned why before Musky and I got into a little debate…I don’t think it’s a curse rather poor ownership and general management that’s doomed the pro teams here.

The only ownership issues in this town are the twins and to a lesser extent the wolves. MLB and NBA don’t play by the rules that NHL and NFL do. Neither of them have a real salary cap. NHL is a hard cap unlike NFL where they can play games and restructure contracts to be signing bonuses. This doesn’t happen in NHL. MLB can spend whatever they want but the pohlads don’t. NBA can dip into the luxury tax and the wolves have gotten close not sure they got there but I give them some credit. They made a massive trade which at the time was questionable to move KAT who was a fan favorite and a dang good player for a bunch of nobodies at least to someone who doesn’t eat and sleep NBA basketball. Look where it got them? On there way to repeat last year or better which is great leadership and savvy. You can’t compare all leagues the same because they don’t play on the same playing field with money. NHL has a hard cap, the others allow for much more flexibility and nuance. The wild will get to use almost all of theirs starting next year. Just a couple million shy but that will help.

no, usually it’s abuse and neglect… the other times it’s just a GM

This is exactly what I was trolling for LOL

This isn’t about who is the best of the lousiest or lousiest of the best. It’s to try and determine why we are cursed? And some creative ways to end said curse? Aka just have fun making stuff up, not argue over whose few playoff exits were less worse, or more common or whatever.

Like Matt I prefer to pick and choose what I rip about when it comes to whether or not this state is cursed.

That’s all you got huh? Even from the Monday and Thursday systems?

I got an inch on Monday and about 1/2 inch yesterday.

A little more than that on Monday, but my gauge wasnt fully setup yet. I dumped it in the morning and then setup the micro collection system and then it hardly rained. Emptied again and then yesterday that is what I got.

That’s the great thing about sports…I can pick and choose who and when I actually give a rip about.

If you are going to give a rip at least come with some facts or anything to support it. Sure, the Wild made 1 conference finals. The wolves 2, but lest we forget they hadnt even been in the playoffs for 2 decades since the first one. Was Ant even born yet when they were in the first one? LOL.
Might want to stick to Cornhusker football.

The drought monitor this morning shows a significant improvement after the monsoon of rain on Monday. All of the “severe” drought is gone now.

Meanwhile I emptied .02″ of an inch from my rain gauge this week. That rain was sure spotty. I know people who got over 1.5″ not far from me, but I sure got missed.

All these excuses for the Wild…they haven’t gotten out of the first round for over ten years. It’s equivalent to the Twins losing like 18 playoff games in a row. The teams are as good as they perform in the postseason…which is mediocre.

I agree with eyeguy…the Wolves will be the next team to bring a championship here. I’d say the Vikes are a distant second.

Wake me up when the Wild or the Twins win anything of importance.

Pretty rich. WOlves hadnt made it to the post season in like 20 years but now are relevant the last 2. Seems you like to cherry pick and dont really pay attention to much if anything pro sports related. When have the wolves won anything of importance? Wolves had a nice run last year, but that has been in the first in years. Wild have at least made the post season so they have a shot nearly every year. I believe they made the post season every year Parise and Suter were here perhaps except 1. Something like the last 8 of 10 now too.
Twins had probably the biggest collapse in sports history just last season. How soon we forget or perhaps those who dont pay attention do.

That is pretty impressive to bend that! I wouldve just gotten a new hitch too. I dont spray mine or lube mine with anything, but everything rides at the right height as I have my hitches now anyway.

Engine and Transmissions rarely fail because of mechanical issues… it’s usually caused by abuse and neglect.

Oh, so GM owners are just abusive and neglectful?

Regardless, it failed and set them back. How many other franchises were giving fringe all stars 10 year deals? The Wilds ownership have mismanaged the draft and free agency and that’s why they can’t get out of a first round series.

They were 13 year contracts, but I digress. Again, there isnt a GM in the league back then that wouldnt have done it. So since you arent close to the WIld or NHL for that matter, the deals didnt set them back UNTIL the NHL punished them after the fact. “Fringe all stars”? Please. Regardless that is all water under the bridge at this point. The ownership has proven time and time again that they are willing to do what it takes. You cannot just buy championships. Lots of things happen over the course of the season and the wild have been ravaged by injuries the last couple years and havent seemed to managed the leveraging LTIR like some others have cough cough Vegas and Tampa to name a couple. The Wild have work to do this off season which I am confident they will do. If they can keep KK97 happy and re-sign him to a blockbuster deal along with the other key pieces they have and bring in some needs at other spots then this team will be poised for a long run and a legit chance at a championship soon.

The Wilds ownership has been mediocre at best. Past owners swung for the fences with Suter and Parise and that was an epic failure. That money now comes off the books so we will see how things shake out now.

I can tell you are a HUGE Wild fan! Leipold owned the Wild then and still does now. 29 other GMs would have signed both of those guys if they could have at that exact time. In fact, both players took pay cuts to actually both sign here. Individually they could have gotten more money elsewhere but wanted to play here.
The only reason those deals bit us was because the NHL changed the rules after those contracts were already in place and implemented the Cap Recapture penalty. Which doomed the while after the fact.

Isn’t that 6 to one half dozen to the other? A transmission flush was a drain and fill I thought?

No. A transmission flush they hook up a machine that pushes the old fluid out and sucks in new fluid. They dont even drop the pan to replace the filter. A drain and fill will drop the pain, get the much of the fluid out, replace the filter and top off. You CAN get all of the fluid out, but it requires some additional effort to get it all. I believe you get about half out by just training it.
Flushing is BAD news! It pushes any contaminants through the entire system and filter. If you dont replace the filter its a waste of time and money.

Dang! Poor Luka. There was atleast 4 fouls the refs totally missed there!

All someone had to do was mention buffet and Luka was magically healed after basically being pronounced dead on the court with a phantom back injury in game 5.

I have the Minnesota VX Premium. I wish I spent a lot of time on the water with it, but unfortunately I havent. The guy at Cabelas was the one who told me to get this one because I wanted the Canadian side of LOW. I also checked with 2 of my buddies and this is the same chip they have and theirs has great accuracy from prior trips when compared to my Lowrance stuff. I have done some looking while in the garage however and it seems VERY accurate around the lakes here I frequent. Kinda crazy to buy a whole new GPS and a chip just for a week in June I guess, but it was too dang frustrating basically fishing blind like I was. I might have to throw a blank chip in there and do some of the autochart maps too. I did that with Lowrance in the past but at least at that time it was pretty clunky. It looked fine on the screen, but if I wanted it for any other unit I had to upload it to their website and then download a converted file to the chip and put in the other unit vs just having it stored on the host unit. I believe that has since changed, but I havent tried it in a number of years.

Little man took this loss hard. Tears started to stream on the third goal. Said he wanted to stay to see Flower leave the ice. I have been a sports MN fan my whole life tears are dry for me but dang little man had me choked up a bit.
I think his losing streak this year and being tired caught up with him. Birthday is Saturday so I’m sure he will bounce back.

That is hard! Didnt you two have just terrible luck at games like lose every single one you went to bad?

I guess what’s my best option, the vx mn chip or vx premium? I’m not familiar with the hummingbird units.

I will check which chip I got on my new helix last year. I havent been on the water with it, but sitting in the garage it looks pretty good. THe one I got has more than just MN on it because it was a requirement to have LOW on the Canadian side when I got it which was the whole reason I bought the bird in the first place because the available lowrance mapping (Navionics, etc) was terrible at best.

Man they took a long time to get some shots in on goal with the extra man. I’m no hockey expert but I think you need to shoot to score.

Spurgeon never gets a shot off. He doesn’t have a shot anyone respects. He hesitates and never takes it. It’s why I HATE him on the PP.
If Vegas had gus in net this series would’ve been over in 4. Vegas is going nowhere with Hill in net. It would be awesome if Edmonton wins their series. The 2 worst goalies head to head. Each game would be double digits in goals.

Actually I went to bed at the start then got up at 11:30, in time to see Lebron flop and lay there and get helped off court.

Was that when he ran into our smallest guy?

I have 2 units on my console. I had 2 ball mounts, but the one was NOT working for the Helix. I went with a Ram swing arm mount for it and kept the ball mount for the other. THe lowrance is not nearly as heavy as the helix both 9″ units. The Helix wouldnt stay up. Solid as a rock now.

Am I the only one that has never heard of any of these “experts”??

I didnt either, but I am not a big NBA fan so thought they were just off my radar.

I wonder what all the NBA experts will talk about today?

They are blaming Reddick for coaching “immaturely” among other things. Blamed him for not getting over the previous games and focus on the task at hand winning game 5.
I think all the talk about Lakers in 5 and every single “expert” picking them to win, mostly in 6 but some in 7. Well, when YOU lose in 5 there is going to be some finger pointing.

I didnt watch the entire game, but this team just does not have any quit in it. Even when Ant isnt going there seems to be someone else who has a big game so who can stop them? I know, a little early to be saying stuff like that. McDaniels has a huge game, Rudy does something last night that I dont think was ever done in an NBA elimination game before. Donte was on fire in another game. The team is just DEEP.
This has to be Conley’s last run I would think. He has been so good for the wolves, but they are going to need someone younger and more athletic to replace him soon. I know they like some of the young guys and now isnt their time, but maybe next year it is. Anyways, enjoying this run for however long it lasts. They must have to wait a while for the next round to start since the other semifinal side hasnt decided its teams yet right?

I find that hard to believe. The best I ever got in my 6.6 1 ton is 16.2.
    I went from a chevy 1500 to a 3500. There isn’t a 1/2 ton that doesn’t have problems or has a under powered motor.

Maybe so, but he isn’t much of a fisherman and drives like an old lady so he doesn’t exaggerate much. He relies on me to put the boat in the right spot for him to catch fish. Sorry I didn’t run the calculator for him to make sure he wasn’t stretching the truth. I’ll do better next time. 2 of the guys I know with the new 6.6 gas switched from diesel and said their mileage is way better and they never have to deal with def. The guy with the 1 ton had a half ton 5.3 before this and needed to plow his driveway. I was like for crying out loud you could use a Ford Maverick to plow your driveway or even a Ridgeline.

So why isn’t icing enforced down to the millimeter like offsides? I’m talking the behind the red-line part of icing, not the crossing the goal-line part. That’s every bit as objective as as offsides, but with icing they just have to get close to the red-line and it’s fine. And for offsides they break it down to a single pixel of a single video frame.

Icing and offsides are all about the spirit of the rule dictating game play, and I think it’s absolutely batshit crazy we’ve devolved to taking goals off the board based on single pixel of space in a single video frame of a player who wasn’t even involved in the play. I’ve thought and said this for years and not just being biased about last night’s call. The right call was made last night, I just think the spirit of the offsides goes against everything good about the game of hockey.

I have no issue with reviews for plays that actually cause goals to happen like kicked pucks, puck crossing the goal-line, goaltender interference, etc.

All of this 1000%. Any player not involved in the play that gets called offsides in a scenario like Nyquist’s is just a dang shame. Granted, he should have awareness and not put himself in that spot, BUT, he was away from the play. His closest defender was taking the man with the puck (hartman) and the other defender was 15 feet away or so. Like I said earlier, it wasnt like they were on a 2-1 where Nyquist could easily gain an advantage in being offsides. He never was closer to the puck than that specific moment and it was never coming his way based on how the defender played Hartmen. Vegas D played it about as well as could be expected, but Hartman made a heckuva strong move to the net and it worked, if only temporarily.

Blaming the game on that one shift is idiotic. Game is 60 minutes long plus overtime.

True. The game is 60 minutes, but that one single mental lapse cost them from going up a game to ultimately being down a game. Granted they still had a chance to win in OT or the rest of regulation, but that game would have most likely ended with a W, but we will never know now. So now they need to win 2 in a row vs just get 1 of 2.
