I don’t get one in often, but I just kicked the Boys loose on Stockton Island (one of the Apostles) waytogo

We have the place to ourselves, I gave them a whistle and told them to be back to the dock in a couple hours.

    Life is good peace

Last time I took a boat nap was after a hard night of drinking fireball up on LOTW.

I made the long trip up to the islands in really choppy water, put the boat on spot lock, and handed the controller to my buddy and then slept for like 2 hours.

Woke up, slammed a keystone, and got back after it.

a hard night of drinking fireball

It’s almost poetic; “A Hard Night of Soft Booze” rotflol

Really though, the warmth of boat carpet and the sound of waves lapping against the hull is almost hypnotic. Been a long time since I’ve had a “boat nap”…

    I thought that was mandatory.

Well we ended up having an awesome trip.

Put over 100 miles on the boat and we got to see every Apostle Island (a first for me as well as the Boys). They did the majority of planning, navigating and driving (around 75 miles worth) waytogo We had moderate to heavy fog Saturday morning from Little Sand Bay to Basswood (I drove).

After the nap on Stockton, we were ripping up between Cat Island and Outer Island, and I saw a boat slowly catching up with us so I took over the helm.

Five miles later there was lights and sirens shock

Turned out to be a 45′ Coast Guard dual jet boat with 7 guys on board and AR-15’s.

I had the Boys hide my beer rotflol

They boarded us and did a safety/background check, and I was literally holding my breath lol (I’m sure I was under .08, but still…)

Everything was good (flares, horn, throwables, PFD’s on us all, fire extinguisher, registration, etc). We got kudos from them for having everything on the up and up and the Boys thought is was cool as all hell! (they were Coasties for Halloween when they were little and that’s what they want to do after highschool)

Awesome trip! We were boarded near Madeline island when my kids were little too…they were a little freaked out initially by the blaring “Prepare to be boarded” call as they pulled alongside…we were all good too..how was the fishing??

On our Canada trips we often pull into a quiet bay and put the spotlock on and kick back and take a short Nap. Its amazing how good those feel from the deck of a boat. Nothing better !
