Navionics has never been a plug and play or see type of chip. Usually you have to select a region and zoom in a bit to see the lake contours. Lakemaster is plug and play which you will not have to change regions like navionics.

I have the same problem on my new unit. My old Humminbird unit would bring up my Navionics maps right away. I still haven’t figured out how to use my new Gen2 HDS7 unit…..maybe I should read the instruction manual.

I am not sure about the HDS 7, but on my HDS 10’s, I no longer selecet regions like before.
I do have to zoom in some but they now operate like the Lakemaster chip.
All I do is select either Lowrance (which is where the lakemaster comes up) or Navionics and good to go.
Really like not having to select regions anymore!

The selection menu is the same on all the HDS units so it should be the same on the 7 or the 10.
