    I am from Richland Center.
    I have 2 2500 stradics in dis-repair.
Both bales refuse to return to closed.
Heard it may be simple as a spring.
I am kinda cheap….if costs a lot to fix i will buy new reel.

Anyone know somewhat local repair person that is reasonable?

How old are the reels(model# FG,FH,ect)?

Had that happen, simple inexpensive fix.About 2 or 3 bucks worth of parts. If you have the original schematic, you can identify the failed part(s).

Shimano likes to discontinue parts for older reels, but parts from new reels are the same.

There is/was a guy in Madison that repaired reels that was good.Your main expense will probably be shipping cost. Those reels are worth fixing, older ones are better than newer ones.

Sometimes it’s as simple as taking the screw out that holds the bail and making sure the bail is bent correctly. It should literally fall into place. If you need to pressure it in order to get the screw in, the bails bent out of shape. .02

There is a guy in Brained MN you could ship to if you wanted to. That is Viking rod and reel service.

I’ve junked close to 15 Shimanos that are less than 5 yrs old. I’m done with Shimanos. This was my first year trying Quantum PT reels and I’ve been extremely happy with them. I put them through the ringer and they still feel like new!

    Len,

This part of a reel especially is typically easy to work on. A small screwdriver is usually all you need. Here’s some links.

I had the spring replaced on a few of my one year old Shimanos. It cost me $15 each to fix, but IMO they never worked well enough to use.

Dang, now I feel bad! I love my Supremes(after giving up on Quantums). I only own a couple of President UL reels, but they’ve also been good to me. Sorry to hear that, man. Were you able to return/replace?
