I bought the portable pack and ice transducer to use my 597 on the ice in flasher mode.
When you power it up it will say “Transducer not connected”
Here are the steps to get it setup…
1.Power it on and when the blue opening page comes up press the menu button.
    2. A green screen will come on, scroll up to normal and tab to the right. This will take it out of demo mode and you’re good to go.

To avoid doing that everytime you go out you need to disable the demo mode.
To do this-After you’ve done the above steps hit the menu button twice.
    Scroll over to setup
Scroll down to demonstration which will be turned on, just shut it off and you’re good to go.

Hope this helps people going this route

Thinking about doing this with mine but need more info on interference when fishing by other flashers. Tired of looking at the flasher.

THANK YOU!! I used mine last weekend for the first time and that was very annoying to deal with every time I turned it on.

How would you compare the 597 to other flashers? I have a 597 cihddi on my boat that i may have to get an ice ducer for.

worked great for me. I like that you can set the max depth so you can always use the full flasher screen. Also is capable of a 6 color palette. And all your lakemaster data and waypoints are right there too.

I think I’m going to like it for the reasons you stated Tim. I had this on the bow of my boat and didn’t cost much to convert it! Got it out today and messed with it awhile, enjoy the waypoints.

I converted my 898cSI to a Genz box. Works great. Can put my Marcum in the same hole as long as noise rejection is set to LOW on my Bird.

Try using the standard sonar screen. You can fine tune every detail and being able to see what happened seconds earlier is invaluable to me. Give it a try, I think you will agree with me.
