Here’s my review: VERY NICE!!! I just fished with one the other day and I must say that if you team it up with your favorite top shelf rod, you have a combo that is hard to beat. The carbon fiber body of the reel has shaved ounces off of the reel- the 2500 size weighs only 7.4 ounces, compared to 8.9 of its counsin, the Stradic FI. The reel has a round nob on the reel handle, and as put off as I was about this, I think that once you get used to it, you will like it. As for the drag, smooth and steady. I noticed while fighting a nice eye, once that eye would dive back down right next to the boat, that drag was on the spot and didn’t hesitate once to perform. PERFECT!! The price, at 199.00 is not for the faint of heart, but if you give the reel a try you will find it to be another huge win for the engineers at Shimano. So, go pick one up and put it on your favorite jiggin’ stick, you won’t be disappointed!

    Sounds like a nice reel!

I have a couple of 25 year old graphite Daiwas that were “break-thru technology” in their day. A lot of people ripped on graphite spinning reels as not being durable, but I’ve no problems with mine. I hate the aluminum reels that weigh a ton and have tiny spools that curl your line, and was happy to see that Shimano came out with these!

    Thanks for the review.

Will have to try the new Stradic. Have always used Shimano reels. Smooth and great drags. They have NEVER failed me.
