Got home early tonight and hit Lake Owen with my 5 yr old son Blake. I was teaching him how to lindy with an inflated crawler and stressing to him the importance of keeping the weight near the bottom but not getting it snagged. One min later……”Dad, its stuck”, I take the rod from him and as I am saying “see this is why you need to pay attention”……the “snag” gave a headshake. “Here Blake its free now”. Blake “No its not, its heavy and still stuck”…..”Dad! Its a fish!” Me”Did you set the hook!” Blake “Yep!”. 5 min later a fist bump, photo, and release.
Last walleye of the evening but we did catch 6 Northern that he was able to wrestle in. All told a good evening on lake Owen.
