What do you guys think of rubber nets? Any suggestions.
Thanks!
They work fine for small fish, but for bigger fish you may as well us a table spoon. They aren’t deep enough to handle big fish.
We used to use rubber nets. Fish will sometimes “bounce” out of them. Also, never leave them out in the sun, they will rot like Right Now. We now use the nets that are dipped in that liquid rubber type stuff. They are just as deep as regular nets, but have the coating on them so hooks don’t get stuck inside the fibers of the net. I have used mine for 2 full years now. (winter and summer fishing) I really like them, and they seem to hold up a lot better.

About as useful as a tennis racket on larger fish.

Wade,
I believe that Beckman makes the best net out there. They use the coated fiber net, and make a super sturdy frame. There are some good ones of other brands, but be careful what you buy, one large snot-rocket can break a net in a heartbeat.
They are called “Dipped” nets.
I used this frabill net last season and it worked out great. The handle extends, rubber coated net and the price was right.

We’ve been using rubber for a couple of years now. It hasn’t failed us yet for walleye, with the biggest that I can think of for fish was around 9lbs.
We did loose about a 50+ inch muskie on LOTW 2 years ago because we didn’t have a normal net, we just had the rubber.
There is no way, you will get any fish larger than 30-35 inches in it…….. But, it is nice for crank trolling, just flip the fish right out and the hooks never have a problem…..
Personally, I like them just for eye fishing. And if you search around, you will find some of the rubber to be deeper nets than others…..If I recall correctly, it isn’t a beckman, but another brand of rubber net we are using.
Again, for eye fishing or even bass/pan fishing, they work awesome. But, if you ever hook into a tuna of a ski or pike, it ain’t happening!!!!!!!!
Jon. Any problems with the telescoping handle on the Frabil? I hate fighting with the push button extending handles. Trying to line up the holes can be a pain at times.
Works great, no probs at all. Nothing to line up, just twist the grip and slide the extension out.

Oh sure, complain about my net……and where would your net be Mr. W……???????? Fishing your boat…”I’ll get the net”…oooopps!! sorry I guess you don’t have a net..
….LOL!!!! Just funnun’ with ya Mike…
I agree with Gary about the rubber nets. There are times when they excell. Night fishing on the big pond comes to mind. They are great for anytime you are pulling cranks, as long as you aren’t getting into any fish over 25-28 inches. Then I would be concerned.
I would never use one for tourney fishing, it’s murphy’s law something bad has to happen, at least to me anyway.
