    Hey Folks,
What can you tell me about 2000 Yamaha 115 four strokes? Good, bad or whatever. Any info appreciated, looking at a boat powered by that motor for my neighbor .
    Thanks!

I don’t have any first hand experience but friends who own them have nothing but good things to say about Yam 4-stroke outboards. Very quiet and reliable. Am looking to replace an old 90hp Merc with one just like you listed myself.

The 115 4 Stroke is highly dependable, quiet, gets good fuel economy and is a fairly strong runner. You’ll rarely hear anything but glowing reviews on this motor.

My ’02 f115 has about 1300 hrs on it and has had nothing but the essentials (oil-filters, water pumps, etc.) This motor “makes oil” when the water is cold. Yamaha has service bulletins out on it that do help but doesn’t totally eliminate the nuisance. It’s never been a real problem, just the nature of the brute. A buddy of mine that works for Lakemaster has the same motor with nearly 6000 hrs and no real problems except maybe an injector two. As previously mentioned, it runs quiet, strong, and sips gas. Would I buy another, in an eyeblink jerr

What should compression read on the 115 four stroke? What are original factory specs and what would you consider acceptable?
