I purchased some 4″ kick plate for the inside of my Ice Castle. How do they attach it usually? Screws or glue? Thanks

    I’d try adhesive and rivets.

Oh wait, Ice Castle is wood framed so rivets won’t work.
I would use adhesive and selftappers, make sure you hit a stud.

Make sure they are an exterior grade fastener.
The one on the top would need to be pre-drilled thru the DP, but I like the head better, and is the one I would use.
The one on the bottom is a self tapper, but I don’t like the head as much and would be my second choice.

eelpout is spot on. Except you don’t need to hit a stud. The interior wood is plenty thick. You’re not hanging a deer.. it’s a kick plate.

My ice Castle has the kick plate. They just used self tappers and silicone the top edge.

The key is to silicone all around. Keep the moisture out.

Actually applying silicone all around would just keep moisture in. You can’t keep moisture from getting in so at least let it out. Same reason siding on your house isn’t sealed at the bottom.
