Mississipi River Pool 3 Report 9/16

I fished Pool 3 this afternoon and finally caught a fish over 20 inches (Yippy). It has been a long couple of weeks for me of only catching small fish.

The thing that worked the best for me was, useing the current for speed and let your jigs slowly bounce off the bottom. My drift would start in about 12ft and I ended my drift in about 5.

The (GLOW) orange Knuckle Ball jig brought most of the fish to the boat, with a blue and white H2O jig close behind! Most of the fish came on a jig and a crawler and a few on a jig and a ringworm.

I did try a little bit of trolling but I had nothing but sheephead. Blue/Silver wally diver was a real sheep killer!

Good Luck Fishing

  1. Here is another fish that we boated this weekend doing the same thing but with bigger jigs. (3/8 Zone R jigs)

  2. Alright. That fish looks like a fall fish to me. Getting closer to that fall bite, I can smell it. Thanks for sharing the report Brian. Thanks, Bill
