Worn Carpet Edges In The Boat

I never got around to putting seadeck in the Rebel over winter, but came up with an idea to cover up the worn edges.

I used aluminum stair edging and matching screws. You can get it in multiple finishes and lengths, and it takes just a minute to install waytogo

It’s a cheap and easy way to make an older boat look a little nicer, or protect newer ones from getting tattered in the first place from kicking back.

They didn’t have anything burgundy so I went with black (got it at Menards). Hope it gives you some ideas!

Looks nice – easy solution ( probably pretty cheap too)

My Father’s boat has this very problem. Some of the carpet edges are worn down to the wood. I keep telling him to replace it but this may be a more realistic solution to be honest. Good idea.

This is what I did in my last boat, all carpet edges were getting shot so I did exactly what Brandon did here. Worked great till I sold it.

I also installed a much needed cup/jig holder today.

I used rivets to mount it to the rod locker to keep it from having anything poking in and catching on the inside waytogo

Also drilled some drain holes to keep water from puddling.

The hardest part was getting the damn sticker off lol (soaked it in water then used alcohol for the glue)

I sent the idea to my son, he has my old Rebel and it’s still looking good for it’s age!!!

Looks good! The carpet edge on my rod locker between the counsels is starting to show signs of wear. I may have to do that to keep it from getting worse since it see’s lots of traffic.

Exactly the same here. Everyone kicks back and puts their feet on the edge of the rod locker so it’s getting pretty thin. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. Thanks for the reminder

Thanks , I was going to put vinyl corner edging for the same issue in my boat. I think I will go with this idea. Thanks for posting.

I did this same thing on my Lund in some spots with vinyl stair edging about 4 years ago and it is still holding up great. I have some areas that I need to add some too so thanks for the reminder. That cup holder looks handy, think I will buy one of those too!
