Savanna Portage State Park – Canoe-in Site

    Any word on the fishing on Wolf Lake? I will be up in Savanna Portage State park camping at the canoe-in site, and wanted to know if anyone had experience there.

    I fished it once but didn’t get anything. I remember it was a bowl without much structure except for the weedline. However, I highly recommend the Savanna Lake in the park. Tons of pike and nice size panfish.

    I have always heard wolf had big Pike but I can’t say I have found any the few times I fished it.

    I have been going there for the past six years and have found the Pike on the south end of Wolf lake, in 10-20 feet, Spoons, Deep Diving Rapilas and Rattle Traps have worked the best for us. Largest Pike We have ever caught there was 36″, I would say the fish tend to be a bit larger than normal, but can be challenging to find. Seems to be hit or miss there as I have been skunked twice there and have caught as many 8 Pike in a couple hours. We also have tried large/medium Suckers with out any luck.
