Any tips for locating smaller sturgeon on the rainy?

Heading up with the kiddo this weekend and size doesn’t matter, would actually prefer action even if it’s a bunch of shorts, she thinks the small ones are cute lol.

Seems like we should be able to sonar the groups and then cast and wait.

Shoot me a text nick and I’ll send you our spot, we fished after dark for them and caught 14 in 2 hours between 4 of us. No idea if that’s good or not, I’m not a sturgeon guy but it kept my kid plenty busy. We seen sizes from 16 inches to 58

Its not the Rainy River but the Croix is full of smaller sized Sturgeon. Lots of areas to bank fish and let the kids run around to.

Plenty of fish right there outside of Sportsman’s and in 4 Mile Bay, with many being smaller fish, but good chance at a big one too. A couple weeks ago we boated 21 fish in an afternoon there, with all but two being under 40″. If you go up river around Vidas or further you’ll probably run into quite a few suckers too at this time of year. They can be fun but also annoying bait stealers.

Eel pout was our number 1 catch while sturgeon fishing. We didn’t complain.
