Anyone been down this spring yet? Has the water dirtied up at all? Looks like it came up very little.

    Hows the ice been?

Looking to head down sunday or monday
    Will report after

Christ this might have been the busiest I’ve ever seen Pool 4 . What a shhh show . I never went upriver of Colvill and was still shocked at the boats . And for your clowns that ran the barge into the rocks up in the lock you’re lucky he didn’t run ya over because he should have …

MN needs to open catch and release walleye state wide . Quit hurrying around me with your main motor then spot locking in front of me . I need a beer . Get off my lawn

Out of Everts yesterday, saw the crowd up at the Y and ended up down by the 63 bridge. Don’t fish Pool 4 often, but when I do I often realize I am better off running to Traverse or ND.

A buddy called me asking for suggestions yesterday as he was headed to the launch, and I told him his best bet was to pick another day. It was way too nice and a Saturday. As a river regular my whole life, there are just certain days you don’t fish. Saturdays in March with temps above 40 are those days.

The mis-information on this is stupid. We watched it all unfold from the WI side of the river. YES, he had to finally get on the intercom and tell the idiots to move as he approached the confluence. However, he ran ashore on purpose up near the lock as they do while they wait for the lock to open. There was no one near him when he did in ON PURPOSE. People grab their pitchforks and try to make this into something is wasn’t.

I cant say Ive ever seen them do it but I believe ya. Good to know. Seems kinda silly that they wouldnt have the lock open though unless their was that much lock traffic ? Everytime Ive been around they hold it open for them and not recreational traffic. I stayed far away from the dam this weekend so only running off second hand accounts.

Seen it a bunch of times. When they overnight, they do is as well. Came up river in the fog a few times to come across them pushed up on the bank.

What I do hope he did on purpose is this: He gave it the beans when he cleared the boats and again when he was pushing up on shore. He absolutely blew out the lock side. I’ve see a pretty hard defined mudline down in Prescott between the Sippi and the Croix. There was so much mud and muck stirred up is was crazy. Pretty much ruined anyone’s fishing that was in that stretch. applause

I saw him do that also. He seemed pissed off that ppl wouldnt move so i thought he did it so it was to ruin the fishing there.

MTT sure had a struggle session out there this weekend, and so did most everyone we chatted with. Rough fish, dink eye’s and saugers for the most part. Some of the MTT guys did hit on some bigger fish, but pretty slow all the way around.

I wasn’t out, but received a message with some pictures from my old neighbor who had a nice 26.5″ fish and a 28″er that he caught Saturday. He was closer to Pool 5 than he was the dam in Red Wing though.

So many people think walleye only spawn above Lake Pepin and mostly in the upper fraction of the Pool near the dam. The masses of fish that do head that direction see so many boats, lures, barges, noises, etc that the bite definitely can be tougher too

I believe it. I was on shore on 2 a few nights ago and again last night. One male walleye and a smallmouth the other night and zero bites last night. Also watched many boats and other shore anglers and did not see a fish caught.

Strange, thought it would be close to peak spawn by now.

I caught a 27inch walleye on march 30th that was already spawned out. Weird year with the water being so warm so early

Getting sick of these low, warm water years. Bring back the cold, HIGH and dirty water springs on the river.

Used to be the rule; now it’s the exception!

I fished yesterday evening 4pm-730pm by the dam. Caught 2x 18″, 19″ and 21″ eyes, no saugers. One last cast and landed a 25″ eye! A lot of whitebass and sheephead moving around.

Out twice and it’s been tough to put a pattern together not fishing regularly. I basically gave up fishing anywhere deeper than 7-8 feet over the years in April so I can find “the one”. Got 2 legals and 2 dinks last Friday. Lost 3 nice fish that felt good but not giant but it was hard to fish with all the tourney boats blowing up my spots.

Oh well back at it in the next few days!
