    Hi!
I am new to fishing (kind of) as an adult. I have been very eager to start on my own but have no one willing or interested in helping me get started and it can be very intimidating asking others for help with this. I was hoping fishing forum would be a good idea!

Being located in Maryland, i grew up fishing and crabbing in the bay as a kid but now as an adult it has been too long to say I know what I’m doing. Is there anybody that can offer advice? Do I need licenses? How do i pick out a fishing rod? Is there seasons for different types of fish you can catch? Where do i start with bait? I have so many questions.

I am very excited and hoping there is somebody who can help answer my questions. Any kind of advice or tips AT ALL would be absolutely wonderful. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help a young lady out with a new/old hobby! )

I would start with the DNR website jn the state you reside. Educate yourself on the seasons, limits and licenses as well as the legal means of take. Once you have armed yourself with the knowledge to follow the laws, then go through the effort of educating yourself on the how, what and why of fishing for your target species.

I would start with Google. And then move on to YouTube. YouTube can visually learn everything you need there.

In-depth Outdoors (IDO) is a Minnesota/Midwest based web forum. Might want to look up a more local website for your area.

You may want to try booking a local fishing guide. A good guide will be more than happy hooking you up with gear buys and seasonal fishing areas to try out. A day fishing with a good local guide is a huge leap in the right direction.

    Good Luck!
