    Specifically which one?

    If you want to go green (treated-rubberized) mesh with a flat bottom I suggest the 9855FB with a (34 by 30)” hoop.
    If you feel you need a bigger hoop you can get a big game landing net. They come in several styles with hoops as big as (40 by 37)” and are also treated with a hook free coating.
    They are a bit cheaper than Frabill (and if your like me money counts) and make a very sturdy and well designed products. Give then a call at 313-368-5680.

    Is beckman nets still in business? I thought I heard they were done last year or the year before. Hopefully I am wrong, they do/did make a nice product. Beckman or frabill are what I would be looking at.

    Yeah I’m definitely looking for a net for fish over 5′ long. I was liking their biggest sized ones. It’ll be a musky/flathead net too but want one that would be a bit oversized for musky

    So (40 by 37)” isn’t big enough? My (34 by 30)” easily handles pike in the mid 40’s range. I’ve see Frabill’s and Rangers and to tell you the truth Rangers are every bit as well made, just not as well known. But it’s your dollar.

    There’s plenty of “trout” nets out there for you Andy. (I owe you one ;) )

    I like the Frabil with the power yoke. When fishing alone I place my foot in the hoop and lift on the handle and it locks in.

    I don’t recall which model I’m running but I can check Monday if you are interested.

    No I wasn’t saying that at all.
    I do think that sized net is good enough for sure. Just wasnt sure what type netting would be best for the hoop size is all.

    Yeah Brian I’d like to hear that net model too.

    I need a net that Mr special… Phil, can actually fit a 61″ sturgeon in. He didn’t think mine was big enough when he screwed up his last net job on this fish. But I grabbed the net and snuck her in… But I don’t think my net can hold a bigger one. So it’s time for a bigger one.

    I was shopping for nets sometime back and wanted a Frabill but thought they were a bit pricey, so I talked to the gent at Ranger and decided to try one. I was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve owned a number of nets before this and this was hands down the best net I’ve owned. I really like the hook proof (or should I say semi hook proof) mess and the basket shape of the net. Basically just trying to help out and save you a few buck should you decide to check into Ranger nets.

    Good luck whichever net you buy

    BTW: That’s quite a fish your holding the picture.

    Frabill Power Catch Net, 32″ x 41″ Teardrop, 2″ Mesh

    BTW I thought a net with a extension handle would be nice. Since I haven’t bank fished in years it’s useless and I’ve never extended it.

    @BeachBrian

    Brian, 72″ fish fit in that one?
    Obviously not much need to go much bigger if it can. I’m sure you’ve had enough big fish to be able to judge whether an over 70″ can go or no.

    @joc

    Is the ‘hook proof’ netting material Heavy? I hate the rubber stuff, but a slight coating over the netting i’m OK with. Maybe i’m best calling ranger for answers. I’d like to know how many pounds can be put into the net without bending the handle or hoop.

    I just can’t believe that Beckmann’s no longer making nets. I’ve got a huge Beckmann. The thing is awesome. It’s a shame.

    Mine is a bit larger then this one which is a Beckman I believe.

    It’s going to be tight with any net at 70+ inches. (Most use a gaff at that size)

    No it’s not rubber (I bought one of those years ago and had a big pike bounce off the thing), I believe it’s rubber coated nylon. I was told the size I bought which is smaller than the size your interested in would easily handle a 50 pound Musky. I have no reason to question this. The hoop is very sturdy, however a 70″ sturgeon must weight way over 50 pounds so you better call. They seem like good people to talk with.

    Brian, i’m thinking if i can get a 61″ in my net (Granted there’s only 1 way) i’m betting that going to your size or slightly bigger will get it done.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.
    Now to order, and deal with a giant net hanging out the back of the boat (
