If you keep your eye out you may be able to find a slightly used or even new abu garcia ambassadeur c3 for 100 or just under.

Save your money and buy a better reel. I went through 2 new c3 my first summer.

I agree. Unless tossing small baits. Try to find a used $300 reel for under $100… Otherwise it’ll be a quick spent $100 if you over work an undersized reel.

What are you defining as “small”?

Reason I ask is that I’m going to take the leap to try musky this year. I did get a new setup with a Lexa. However I’ve got two perfectly good C3s that could be a secondary option. Just don’t want to ruin them.

Well, the simplest answer will come when you reel in a lure. If it is hard, it’s too much.

I’d guess single blades smaller than 7 you’d be OK.

    Spooks and lipless lures.

Just not the big heavy toys that drag a lot in water.

I have a Abu Garcia 6000 original that I would sell for 75
