I seen this on another hunting forum.
    Crazy to watch.

A friend of mine is a Dr in Alaska. Since he isn’t native he can’t hunt polar bears but his patients are native so they can.
He would tell me stories about them asking him to go with polar bear hunting.
They would cut tracks and circle up wind of the tracks then wait for the bear to come. Nothing like being the bait for your prey. lol

Thank god he saw it coming – that was close.
Brown pants, brown underwear, brown socks, brown boots and brown snowmobile seat for sure. WE were just talking about polar bears attacking people last nite at dinner?! Creepy……

I bet he figured he was better off using two hands on the sled since he was fighting with the gun.

With a running sled that close and a FRIGGIN polar bear chasing me down I’ll take the sled any day. THe gun would have taken time he desperately needed and didn’t have and probably would have just pissed off an angry, adrenalin pumping beast anyway.

They must not be able or really don’t want to shoot them, because there were a few shots fired from a close distance and the polar bear didn’t seem to be harmed in anyway.

I suppose, I had not thought about that. Gun seems superfluous to me then. But I don’t have all the info.
Safe to say, glad it was not ME!

Luckily the sled was pointing the direction it was and made for a good escape path. What if it had been facing the direction the bear was coming from and he had to drive towards it in order to turn around? Scary deal for sure.
