Yes it’s a 4 blade prop. I had some prop rattle so I switched from a flo torq 2 hub to a flo torq 4. My RPM’s are 5600 and the top speed is about 45 with 2 people which is fine with me. It’s an aluminum fishing boat after all. What I like is the 4 blade prop gets me on plane really fast, has great acceleration, and keeps the boat on plane at a lower speed.

I have the Tempest Plus 19P SS that was the optional SS prop for my Merc 150 4S on a Lund 1875 Impact. When I first got it I thought it was cavitating during hole shot. After some research I learned that the prop is vented up to a certain RPM inorder to gain RPM faster. There are three ports in the prop to facilitate that. From years of boating I can’t help noticing this and find it mildly irritating although it seems to function fine. You can get plugs to close one, two or all the ports if you want. I haven’t done this but am tempted to see what changes if I do. If your prop is ported I’ll bet that is what you are noticing.

Yep that’s exactly what is happening. I assume the holes in this pic. Are the ports.now I know.

I ordered a Alumacraft Competitor 175 CS with a 150 Merc Pro XS. It will deliver in the spring.
I told the salesman I wanted SS prop and asked him for recommendation. He went on to tell me that their mechanics know which prop to put on and what pitch the blades should be. I don’t know jack about this subject so I just want them to rig the boat so it shoots out of the hole fast and gets good top end speed. I really feel that the dealership should be able to pick the correct prop and I shouldn’t have to worry about it. I don’t have the time to research and I’m not qualified to make a prop decision.

That length of boat with a 150 should fly!!. The stratos i sold last year had a 150 Etec. 17 pitch 4 blade and it leaped out of the water. The boat was 18.6 the Lund i have now weighs about 300 lbs less and is a slug, plus I’m learning about the ports and how they affect accereration. Just ordered a Solas ss.17 pitch. Good luck.
