Looking for a new Duffle bag

I know this is pretty straight forward. I had the last one for 11 years and it wasn’t even that nice, so I thought now I’ll get at least a decent one and they can pack my clothes in it when I go off to the nursing home. Not looking the a huge one, more of a medium to large. I do mostly 3-4 day out of town fishing and hunting trips. If you’ve had one you really liked please let me know!

I use a duffle for day trips. Longer trips I pack everything into a Rubbermaid Storage bin. (Or any other brand or plastic box with a lid) Basically indestructible and water tight go right into the back of the truck.

If I was shopping a “Decent” duffle bag, I’d be looking at Duluth Trading Company stuff. Spendy!

I have a couple different sized duffels both purchased at the Sports show that have lasted well over 10 years now. Both under $20 bucks.

    Good Luck!

Got to go with 31 bags. Super functional and best of all you can get matching fabric for all your needs. Camo for those rugged weekends with the guys, modern striped pattern in a soft color palette for the getaways with the uppity inlaws, or a distinguished sequins pattern for those business trips….. doah

I will preface this by saying that it’s kind of a silly indulgence, but…

I just love the Duluth Pack boot duffle. Had one for over a decade now and it’s just the best bag for short hunting and fishing trips. Boots and shoes and anything that gets wet/muddy tucks away in the lined bottom compartment. It holds plenty of gear, and I like the shape that is more tall than it is long. Works great as a carry on or when flying by small aircraft.

It will easily last a lifetime plus 20, I can’t imagine what it would take to wear one out. Everything is super heavy duty and made in USA.

I liked the concept of the separate boot/gear compartment so well that I bought a big rolling bag that has the same bottom compartment and holds rod tubes, a takedown shotgun case, or snorkeling gear in the bottom compartment. Terrific for keeping things clean and organized and keeps expensive sporting toys hidden away from baggage handlers and prying eyes. Unfortunately, as a bag that gets checked, it’s received a terrible beating but it still works well.

I use motocross gear bags. There big enough for a lot of clothes and have big zippered pockets on the ends for boots/other gear

The Mystery Ranch “Mission” duffles are great. They have a boot pocket, and are pretty darn sturdy.

Can’t beat the Duluth Pack stuff – they are the “YETI” of duffels/packs.

This is the best man purse thread ever.

I can fit a lot of Hamm’s in my Louis Vuitton.

For those of you who like Duluth Pack or Duluth Trading Company waxed canvas, check out Rustic River Gear locally owned and operated in central MN with all US made components and I believe lifetime warranties.

So does that mean it’s made in China and overpriced?

Well they are making dog bowls now. And I see they have an organizer for your Yeti bucket.

Do I have to put the DTC sticker on my truck now too?

Lots of excellent options if you’d like to get into modern styles/equipment too, may not be as durable as waxed canvas but all will be quite functional and most will be less expensive. Regarding storage for wet/dirty items, I have lots of stuff sacks/dry bags that I use to organize within my main bag, works well for me.

I’d probably look at a 40L to 60L size if you go that route, should be able to find a nice one for around $150, probably quite a bit less if you hit a sale. Good luck with what you decide.

Boyt Harness has some nice products. While do not own the duffle, I have two shotgun cases, a rifle case and a dopp kit from them. The 25x13x14 waxed canvas duffle is $130.
