Livewell pump fills the boat! Help!

I have a Lowe 1620 V bottom boat that has a livewell at the front. I was at the lake and when I turned on the pump to fill the livewell it ran but the water was going inside my hull under the floor somewhere. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any advise would be appreciated.

Hose from pump to well is broken.
Don’t run the pump or fix the hose.

Pull up the floor and fix it. Goid way to get very familiar with your boat.

Does the water start entering your hull as soon as you switch on the livewell?

Or is it after the livewell is full?

It’s possible you have a cracked fitting or hose on the overflow drain. Make sure you go after the right problem. If leak occurs when livewell is full, look at drain or overflow.

Also, before you tear up the whole floor, see if there is any way to inspect the hose right at the inlet to the livewell and also at the livewell pump back at the transom where the pump connects to the hose. You may just have blown a hose clamp or broke off the pump outlet nipple. Most freshwater boat makers use cheap pot metal clamps that rust out on these fittings so check that before you tear things up on the floor.

If you’re lucky you have a leak right at the pump or the inlet fitting that can be changed without tearing up the whole floor.

Always use stainless steel clamps in all marine applications and always double clamp every connection if there is room.

Curious if this just started happening? This is typically a early season problem due to frozen lines. If it just started, I would guess the hose has just come un-done from the fitting connection. Should be a quick fix.

If it froze, you could have a crack in the line anywhere from to pump to the well.

Must be broken under the floor, all the fittings are tight and it does not leak right at the pump, leaking under the floor somewhere. Too involved to tear up the floor to fix whatever is the issue. It will be easier to install put a pump in the live well to keep the water circulation going. Guess I will just plug the intake for the pump and go from there. This is a 1989 model boat that I just recently purchased, so I will adapt to make it usable.
