I like “off shore” structure in the Colorado resiviors, Green and Geneva here in WI. Could be as simple as a 10′ hump in 130′ or more. Seems like once you find a few humps like these that you mark fish around, they are pretty consistent all winter. That being said, on ice, they can be 10′ under the ice to hanging on the bottom. Geneva is notorious for lakers moving through 40 to 80 fow in the winter.
I also will often use two rods. 5-6″ white tube and a 3-4″ spoon or other color tube. I’ll dead stick one 20 to 30 feet off the bottom while working the other. Had many times that a brute came in on the dead stick.
