Looking at doing the switch from 6- 8 volt batterys to 1 48 volt lithium battery on my ruff n tough cart. Looking to see who has made the change and what to watch out for? Is it easy or are there other things I may have to do other than put the batterys in and have different charger.

I did this last year on an EZ go cart. I went to 2 – 48v 50Ah batteries. I had to change the holders for the batteries because the 8v would span across and sit on the angle iron. The lithiums were too long to fit with the cart and I had to turn them perpendicular and they would fall through. I added sheet aluminum in each bay with a wood support along the bottom just in case. The only hiccup was that the existing battery charger port would disable the system if it thinks the charger is plugged in. When I hooked up the batteries the lights and horn worked, but the cart wouldn’t move. I figured out I needed to wire the charging port wires to the battery directly to disable the charging safety system. All good after that. Felt like a drag racer after losing 350lbs without the lead. grin
