What the ‘ell kind of a name is that for corn?
MIRAI!!!
Tried this new brand last year, it was the best sweet corn I have ever had. (And I am a bit of a sweet corn snob)… Worth the couple extra bucks for the seed, for sure!!!

“Mirai? What is it?
Well in one simple word – it’s Different. IT’S A NEW CLASS OF SWEET CORN! Supersweet types (SH2) have high sugar for shipping but are tough and do not have good corn flavor. Sugar Extenders types (SE) are very tender and have good flavor but are not sweet and sugary. Types (SU) have old-time sweet corn flavor but are not tender or sweet. Combining these 3 types of sweet corn give Mirai customers their truly unique, one-of-a-kind “Mirai Experience” of the best taste, flavor and texture available in sweet corn today. Mirai will hold its quality for 10-14 days when kept in refrigeration in the husk.”
I take it you aren’t a gardener, BK???
Just imagine the incredible amount of excellent fertilizer you could have with all those cats and sturgeon you catch!!!
I bought corn from an old farmer in Spooner a couple times last year and i can only imagine it must have been this Mirai you speak of because I too am a sweet corn snob (though I dont grow it) and it was the best corn I have ever had. Thanks for the info.
I get my seed from Jung’s catalog, but I’m sure other places sell it… Not the cheapest stuff, but definitely a great eat!
We froze a bunch last year, and we are still eating it… Awesome corn – even after being frozen for a half year +!
I’ll be giving this a whirl myself this year. any tips/tricks you can pass down or know of a spot online i can read up before i put seed in the ground?

I’m no expert…. Here is some info…

Definately separate these (or any) hybrid corns from other types of hybrids or regular corn. If they cross pollinate, its not good. So pretty much plant this kind only and/or space by a good distance from other varieties.
Plant a few rows every few days to a week apart so you get a continually producing crop instead of it all maturing at once.
I never really grew sweet corn before last year, simply because I thought it would be too hard to grow or wouldn’t turn out. We just always bought stand corn and grew other veggies, etc. This stuff was really easy, however – I just started with a well tilled bed. Probably should have fertilized, but didn’t. Let ma nature provide water. I DID till between rows and hand weed occasionally, but that was about the extend of the care I provided. Turned out EXCELLENT!!
Good, luck, and post your pics/results if it all turns out!!
UW extension publications are also usually pretty good. Here is some general knowledge

Basically, plant, keep relatively weed free, water when necessary, pick, eat, get the cornpoops.
Simple!

The only corn he grows are the ones on his feet.
Thanks for the information whittsend I’ll have to give it a try this year.
Oh yah, the racoons kicked my but a few years ago, now I use a 6 ft mesh fence.
Gurney’s GOTTA HAVE IT !!!! The sweetest corn you will ever find. Even when it gets over mature it is still excellent.
I seen that advertised last year Jim at Gurneys, is it really that good, it sounds like it is. Its hard to beat peaches and cream.
I think they updated a new one from gotta have it and the new one is Bodacious
