AWSOME! Trip highlighted by rainy daze guide service with Chris Granrud!!
Well all trips have to have there bumps in the road and we had one right off the bat…… almost. We left Rochester early thursday morning and headed north for Red Lake. Hours later we were thinking we had gone to far and may have missed our turn for Red Lake and we did but no problems there was a road ahead that cuts across to the massive lake, probley be a 45 min detour not to bad i guess. so now back on our way and getting excited!! then the van stuttered a little and shut off and we coasted to a stop!! stareing at each other we though our trip was over! after a short look around the van we found a fuel line had came apart we pushed it back together and we were on our way and past all of the bumps in the road!!
We fished Red from 2 or so till dark bagging some nice eater walleyes and then we headed for our true destination Intl. falls to check into our hotel and get some sleep before meeting Chris and hitting the lake for some world class crappie fishing and world class crappie fishing is what we got! Chris hooked us up with some of his diamond jigs and we started to work on catching some SLAB crappies! In two days we caught atleast 150 beautiful slab black crappies. most of them were 12″ or better with a good amount of ten inchers, a years growth away from being giants themselves! biggest of the trip was a giant 15 3/4 inch fish that dean caught! the picture was posted by Chris on the main page here (BIG DONK SLABS!! special edition with rainydayze) Chris was awesome to fish with and put us right on the fish. My buddy Eric also caught and released two nice walleyes awesome bonus fish! Cant wait to do some walleye or pike or more crappie fishing again with Chris!!
After we pounded giant crappies for two days we decided to head over to lake of the woods and get in on the bite we herd was going on there. we left Intl falls at 5am and were fishing LOTW by 7am. about 30 seconds after i sat down and started fishing i marked a suspended fish way up like 15 feet dropped my jig down two jigs into that days fishing i was hooked up with the first fish a nice 17 inch walleye. The four of us fished until about 2 icing 16 keepers and releasing alot of dinks. we had lots of action and was a blast!
TRIP OF A LIFE TIME FOR MANY!!!
Thanks Chris and the guys for a awesome trip!!
